  Cannot create annotations in Freda+
Posted by: timlt - 01-27-2019, 09:37 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

Hi, I just paid for Freda+ on the Microsoft store.  Here's the first para from the description for Freda+ on Microsoft store:

"Freda+ is a program for reading electronic books (ebooks) on Windows. It reads EPUB (DRM-free), MOBI, FB2, HTML and TXT format books. The program offers customisable controls, fonts and colours, plus annotations and bookmarks...."

When I select text on any ebook in Freda, a toolbar comes up to create a highlight or a bookmark, but there's no option to create annotations.

How do you create an annotation?

  5 columns in portrait mode
Posted by: Hometown - 01-20-2019, 04:35 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (4)

Hi guys, i am now using Freda for at least 3 years, in my surface 3 and now the surface pro. I use too the android version in my mobile! Wow guys.... Super application!

I just wanted to ask you if it is possible to add more columns into portrait mode. 3 are not enough for me. I love to use very small columns so i can read in chunks of sentences, this allow me to scan really fast the pages. It is perfect for speed reading. 5 columns in portrait would be just perfect for me, even 6? Maybe...

In the book "Speed reading for dummies" you can find the science behind this idea of reading in columns, no hypertherm and for le left alignment....

Would be adding more columns very difficult to implement? I can't wait to get your answers guys, thank very much!!

Great regards.

  One-step dictionary lookups?

In Freda for Windows, is there an official way to get a long press on a word immediately pop up a definition/translation?

Thanks,
Steve

Can I open multiple books at the same time, or run more than one copy of Freda?
Posted by: Hamilton Burger - 01-10-2019, 05:28 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (4)

I often read the same book in two or more languages at the same time, side by side. In Windows, I can do that using Firefox, Calibre, or Edge (you just tile the multiple windows side by side)B ut I want to use Freda because it has better features than those other options.

So: Is there any way in Freda to open more than one book at the same time or to run more than one copy of Freda simultaneously? If not, please consider adding that ability.

It's crazy to me that nobody seems to support this basic functionality--not Adobe DE, not Kindle, not Kobo--when most serious Windows applications, of all sorts, permit you to have multiple files open at the same time.

Thank you,
Steve

Run Freda on Win 7 (x64) OS
Posted by: gandoe - 01-04-2019, 06:25 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (2)

Is there a simple way to run Freda on my current Win 7 HP system?

I did some quick searching, and apparently I could set up a dual boot system....but that seems pretty complex, and would most likely result in a number of other obstacles.

I currently use Moon+ as my Android reader; very happy with the ability to extract my annotations from various ebook formats and send to Evernote (for further note taking).

I'm trying to replicate that on my desktop; reading an EPub (or other format), making annotations, and then sending to Evernote.

I can get something like that to work with PDF's (using Foxit), and am trying to replicate for ebooks. Freda got high marks.

Thanks in advance

Ed

Issues trying to connect to calibre server
Posted by: cnicu - 01-04-2019, 02:25 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (3)

Hi!

I have just installed freda on Windows and I have tried to connect to my calibre server. Unfortunatlely it is not possible to cofigure freda such a way that it produced the correct target URL.

I need something like https://calibre.mydomain.com:8077/calibre1234 or respectively https://calibre.mydomain.com:8077/calibre1234/opds

All I succeeded by configuring the app was something like https://calibre.mydomain.com/calibre:8077/opds which is not working (as it's also not a valid URL)

Can I influence the String that freda builds/uses as target URL somehow? (e.g. by editing the registry?)

  Connection Freda+/Calibre KO
Posted by: tekkk - 12-29-2018, 02:28 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

Good morning,
i have problem to connect Freda to Calibre. I have followed the support guide : http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=7, but the problem persist.
I think , because at the calibre server address, there is not a list of my books, but only a "presentation" page with a button labeled "my calibre library name".  Exclamation
Only when i press the button the next page contain my books list.
I have installed calibre 3.36.0

Is there a solution? Huh

Freda will not open documents (epubs)
Posted by: DaMick - 12-08-2018, 07:43 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (3)

When I attempt to open an epub document, Freda opens the green screen but will not open any document. I really like Freda but this has me confused.
I uninstalled the Freda app, restarted, reinstalled the app, same thing, no document.
Does anyone have any ideas?
