Improving the handling of annotations |

I am looking for an epub reader for my academic workflow that matches (as much as possible) what I can do with PDFs.
The main functionality that I am after is to be able to annotate - and by that I mean highlight text and add notes - and export those annotations (full text of what is highlighted and also my associated notes) with location references and, ideally, links back to the location in the document. Oh, and for annotations to be automatically synchronised across devices.
I have read a number of threads in the forum about how Freda handles bookmarks and highlights differently and how the automatic synchronisation works and I don't think I can get it to do what I am after. If I missed something please let me know.
Would it be possible to develop Freda to offer this functionality?
I have seen quite few posts in forums for various note-taking apps looking for good epub readers that can support the academic flow but no-one has yet done it, so people end up converting their documents to PDF and working with those. That may be okay for Windows, but is a horrible experience on mobile.
I like what I have seen of Freda so far (only a couple of days) and being able to have the same interface across Android and Windows is great, but I really need this additional functionality to be able to build it into my research.
Many thanks,
Richard

My company blocks the Freda install from the Microsoft store. Is there somewhere that I can download Freda and install it on a windows 10 machine?

Read Aloud stops reading once the page ends |

I think this might be a bug. I use read aloud as the default read setting. Recently, reading has stopped once the two pages on screen ends. To keep reading the book, I've had to press R each time the pages change. It does automatically turn to the next two pages, but read aloud stops right at the top of the screen. I've tried this with 3 books so far, including one I've been reading since the last update, and it has consistently happened. Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I find the Freda reader very interesting. But these days I have a problem. If I click on a highlighted part of text and then choose Note it will always come up with Bookmark.?
I thought the Note system worked at first because I remember the text entry box coming up. Now it doesn't anymore....
What could have happened?
Thank you

- Refactored the application, to make a better separation between ViewModel and Model code, and introduce the use of the Command pattern.
- Fixed dictionary search using Lexico, which had been broken by changes to the lexico web-site.
- BUG FIX: Fixed a problem where empty tags (such as image tags) would break the processing of chapters in FB2 books, meaning that the chapters got truncated.
- (Android) Fixed a performance issue with the recolouring of large images.
- (Android): BUG FIX: Corrected a problem which was preventing the selection of certain code pages (such as Cyrillic)
- (Android) Applied the new 'scoped storage restrictions' in Android, by removing the storage card book source, and the ability to save/restore backups in local folders. To open book files stored locally on an Android device, you now need to use a 'file picker' popup.

BUG - Not Turning Page Reading Aloud |

Hi Jim,
I have what I think is a bug to report. Recently, I've been noticing instances where Freda does not turn the page while it's reading aloud. It doesn't happen all of the time, and there are times even when it does it once, and then I go back and tell it to do it again and it works just fine. I haven't noticed any "page turning weirdness" in any other context.
This didn't used to happen. I'm not sure if it started on the last update or maybe the one before it, but it's more than a "glitch"-- there's something happening.
The out-loud reading doesn't stop, and it's reading the correct text on the correct page, it just doesn't turn the page to let me see it / follow along.
Thank you for a terrific program!
JWhitten
BTW-- I would still love to have Amazon Polly support-- Hint Hint !!! They've also introduced a new set of Windows SAPI drivers, which now come in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (before it was only 64-bit). But, alas, Freda still isn't picking up the voices.
You would make me *EXCEEDINGLY HAPPY* if you could somehow add Amazon Polly support into Freda.
(And I understand full-well that I would have to supply my own keys. BTW-- I've been playing around with it in python and built a "chunker" that does a pretty good job of breaking up texts and sending it out and back in small enough "chunks" that starting / stopping audio playback isn't a huge problem. You'd probably want to buffer up a little, but for testing I was using one thread, one audio file, and small [approx] one-sentence length chunks and getting along just fine)
