Moving Files from PC to Android
#1
Question
I've had trouble synching and importing files from my PC to my Android tablet.  The import crashes the program, I assume because I have too many books.  But I want to keep the highlights for future use.

I also like to read on a large monitor using my PC and sync with the Android tablet which I can take to book groups and access the highlighted excerpts for discussion.

I was able to work through this problem a few times by removing Freda completely from my Android tablet and reinstalling.  But this is a bit of a pain to do every time I read a new book.

I can get to the saved files on my PC.  Can I copy them by hand onto the Android tablet?  I can't figure out where the Freda files are stored on the Android tablet.

Anyone know whether this is feasable and how to acomplish it?

Thanks in advance.

This is such a great program - I would be glad to pay $ for it, especially if I could get the PC and Android to work together.  I have searched several times for other ebook readers but so far have not found any that are even close to Freda.

Hi Steve, Sorry to hear that the file import process is crashing Freda on Android.  The bad news is that copying the files to Android manually won't work very well because, though Freda does store its book files in a folder belonging to the app, it also uses an internal database to retain some book details, as well as bookmarks and highlights - and if you just copy the book file but don't make any updates to this internal database, you'll confuse the app in various ways (among which: you won't see the bookmarks and highlights you created).

If you send me Freda's log file from the Android tablet, I might be able to figure out what's going wrong with the process of loading files - because it ought to work OK even for libraries containing hundreds of books.  To send a log file, follow the instructions here: https://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5 (my email address is jim@turnipsoft.co.uk)
