Please allow third party text to speech voices - rosands - 11-13-2020

I have purchased several third party text to speech voices for my PC and I would love to be able to use them while reading books aloud.
Thank you. Smile

Concerning text-to-speech voices installed on Windows, there are, unfortunately, difficulties.  Freda is a 'Windows Store App' (also known as a 'Windows Universal Platform App') and Microsoft impose some restrictions as to what types of text-to-speech voices are available for use in Windows Store Apps.  I suppose it's for security reasons or some such story.
There is a relevant blog post at http://www.webbie.org.uk/blog/microsoft-speech/
Bottom line: just because a voice has been installed on your PC, that doesn't mean that Freda is allowed to use it.

Microsoft do make changes to their platform quite regularly, so the situation might change - and I will be keeping an eye on the possibilities for using a wider range of installed voices with Freda

I'm also interested in this. It's one of my biggest wish items for Freda.

Thanks!
