Freda not loading on Windows 11, help! - SunShineLucy - 04-02-2024 It was working flawlessly a few weeks ago, but now it won't start or run. I have tried several times and restarted my Windows 11 x64 PC already. I also removed and reinstalled it to no avail. I don't know how to post a bug/crash report. It won't even start. Please, help me out so I won't have to look for another epub reader since this has been my favorite for years now. Please take a look in the folder C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\5957Turnipsoft.freda_ypmq2qh89vmny\LocalState\Freda on your PC, and see if you can find a file in that folder called "logfile.txt". If you do find it, please email it to me at jim@turnipsoft.co.uk RE: Freda not loading on Windows 11, help! - SunShineLucy - 04-02-2024 (04-02-2024, 03:40 PM)jim_chapman Wrote:(04-02-2024, 03:26 PM)SunShineLucy Wrote: It was working flawlessly a few weeks ago, but now it won't start or run. I've tried to start the app again but nothing happened. It is requesting admin privileges. Now Freda has to be run as Admin. I am logged in as a regular user for security reasons (my PC was hacked last year). I have been using Freda with this non-admin account since I reinstalled Windows and had no issues until now. I can't now click an ebook in Calibre to open it Thank you for your prompt response. Regards. If you do find it, please email it to me at jim@turnipsoft.co.uk There is no good reason why Freda should be needing admin rights to run. I've had a look on Google for reasons why Microsoft Store apps might need admin rights, and I see various support questions asked about it, so it seems like it's a known problem with Windows 11 (not specifically Freda). I think you could try logging in to your machine as an admin user, and from the apps list in the menu, uninstalling Freda. Then check the folder path I mentioned above, and make sure that folder is deleted. After that, restart the machine, and log in as a non-admin user, and install Freda from the Store. That might make a difference. But to be honest I am mystified RE: Freda not loading on Windows 11, help! - SunShineLucy - 04-04-2024 (04-03-2024, 08:37 AM)jim_chapman Wrote:(04-02-2024, 04:02 PM)SunShineLucy Wrote:(04-02-2024, 03:40 PM)jim_chapman Wrote: Please take a look in the folder C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\5957Turnipsoft.freda_ypmq2qh89vmny\LocalState\Freda on your PC, and see if you can find a file in that folder called "logfile.txt". Freda won't run unless I right-click the app icon and select the RunAsAdmin option. Thank you for your time anyway. |
