Not a critical feature for me, but I note the text to speech reading mode does nothing, other than generate a momentary flicker on screen.

Hi, which reading mode are you using? All of them (read aloud, speedread, and autoscroll) seem to be working OK on my test device here. If text-to-speech (read aloud) is not working for you, is it failing on every book, or just one one particular book? If it's one particular book that is causing the problem, please email the book to me. Or if it's failing with every book you try, please can you email me a copy of Freda's log file (http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5)

It looks like you're not getting my email responses (perhaps your spam-filter is throwing them away). Anyhow, having looked at your log file, this is what I suggest: Hi Paul, Thank you for getting back to me. I looked at the log file, and I can see that there is definitely a system error happening when the app tries to start reading aloud - but it isn't an error that I'm seeing on my test devices, so I'm a bit mystified. Please could you check the following for me: 1) From the Windows main menu, tap the settings button (the one above the Window symbol) 2) In the 'find a setting' search box, type: text to speech settings 3) 'change text-to-speech settings' should pop up as a search result; tap on it. 4) Check that a speech language is shown in the window, and that there is a voice name shown in the 'choose a voice' drop-down. 5) Tap 'preview voice' and confirm that you hear some spoken words. Thanks, Jim |
