License sharing problem
#1
Hello,
It seems every thread after 2-3 threads is me complaining Angel
I've been using Freda with license I bought from play store for almost a year and now with the updates I'm trying to share the license with my windows pc so I can sync between them.

Quote:On the device that already has a licence:
  1. Start Freda, and on the main menu choose 'licence'.

  2. You'll see a popup saying that premium features are available on this device, and a 'sharing' button.  Tap the 'sharing' button.

  3. On the next popup, tap the 'consent' button.

  4. If you haven't already signed in to OneDrive, Freda will ask you to do so.  Tap the 'login' button, and supply user name and password if needed.

  5. Next, you'll see a popup saying "Freda will share licence information for (your user name) ...".  Tap 'continue'.

  6. Now, you will see a popup message saying that the licence has been made available for sharing.  You can close this popup.

On the device that doesn't yet have has a licence:
  1. Start Freda, and on the main menu choose 'licence'.

  2. A popup will be appear, showing the message "Premium features have not been purchased on this device...".  Tap the 'sharing' button below that message.

  6. Now, you will see a popup message saying that a shared licence has been found, and is now being used, so premium features are unlocked. You can close this popup.

My first problem was on the device with license, step 4 never appeared. It did not ask me to connect to OneDrive it just said can not connect to Turnipsoft servers so I cant share.
After reading this post I realized I was signed out from one drive and using the sync tab I signed in and then I was able to share it.

Now the second problem is, at windows app, at step 2 the share button doesn't appear. It just says "Premium features are locked" and there is the "close" button at below.
I thought this may also be a problem with one drive connection because, one drive is signed out on windows app too and I can't sign it, it says "Cannot connect to OneDrive: no network".

Here is the end of the log file:

I tried pinging "microsoft.com" and telnet "microsoft.com 443" both of which were successful so I don't think it is a connection issue. Should I allow the windows app internet access from somewhere?

Hi,

Thanks for posting.  I am still trying to figure this one out - I think it must be to do with firewall or app settings on some devices.  I haven't managed to reproduce this error on any of my test kit, but I have had several reports of this error.  I think it might need a new app release to fix it.  But in the meantime please do check your machine settings (particularly the app/security capability settings for Store Apps in general and Freda in particular).  And if you do find a solution, please post here.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,
Couple of things I found out:
1-Repeaditly going "Back" and entering "Sync", it sometimes connects to one drive. Like 1 out of 5 tries.
I tried disabling the only firewall, windows firewall, which didn't change anything.
Also I checked the network monitor, Freda is always connected to one place and it does send and receive data (deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com).

but when it connects to onedrive, it is connected to a second ip not just this.

So I don't think there was anything blocking the app on my pc or network.

2-From "Apps", "Advanced Apps Setting", "Share Across Devices", "Microsoft Account" I opened a web page and it said "Apps and services you've given access " and there was both "Freda" and "Freda (ebook reader)". I deleted both of them.

Then deleted the Freda APP and reinstalled.
It asked me again for permission at some point and now "share" button appeared. It now says "premium feature are paid on this device".

So maybe upgrading the app is blocking somethings and the share button is not shown. So you need a clean install? (I did try the in app clear buttons at support tab before deleting, didn't work)
The only problem left is Onedrive connection not being reliable and you need to spam the sync page for it to connect.
