Double click for contents
#1
I am publishing a book, ePub reflowable 3.0. The normal contents via the hamburger menu works fine. However, for the printed contents page of the book, clicking on each entry brings up a box with an arrow that has to be clicked, rather than going directly to the linked page without this extra step. Is there a way to avoid this? Does it have to do with the type of links or anchors that I am using? Thanks

As far as (X)HTML is concerned there is only one kind of anchor and Freda treats all anchors in the same way.  Freda's behaviour when you tap on a link is decided by the user (the 'tap link' setting, in the 'screen controls' group, which is normally set to 'ask what to do' but can be set to 'follow' in which case the app will open the link directly.  The reason for preferring the 'ask what to do' behaviour is that links are often used for footnotes (in which case it's useful to see a preview of the footnote before deciding whether to actually skip to the page in which the footnote appears) and for links to external websites (in which case it's useful to see what URL you'll be taken to, before the app launches the web browser to show it).

So unfortunately the only way to avoid this behaviour is to ask the user to change the relevant app setting.

OK, thanks. That's OK -- just wanted to make sure that there wasn't something that I was doing that caused that behavior.
