After the update for windows freda. The images inside the books are not showing. Is there a way to go back to the previous version?

There's no simple way to revert to an earlier version of an app on the Windows Store.  But we can probably deal with fixing the problem that you're experiencing with images.

Firstly, a quick fix might be to find the setting 'use advance rendering' and set it to 'no'.  The recent update switched over to using a new more sophisticated rendering engine by default - and if that new code is causing problems with your images, then reverting to the old (not 'advanced') rendering engine might fix it.

The next thing I'd ask is if you could email me one of the books that you're having problems with, and a copy of Freda's log file - by following these instructions: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5 .  My email address is jim@turnipsoft.co.uk .

Thanks.

It does not fix it. Already tried before I made this thread.

I think the problem is with how the pictures inside the book is not ordered properly.
Clustered in the same page with the text or with other pictures. I tried other books that have single picture in the whole page and it works.

Freda can certainly cope perfectly well with a single page holding many pictures, so something else is going on here.  If you send me the book, I'll look at what is going on.

Hi, and thank you for sending me the file.  Please can you try the following:
1) Start Freda, and delete this book from your bookshelf (right-click, then choose delete from the menu)
2) Restart the PC
3) Start Freda, and download and open the book again.
4) Send me Freda's log file, following these instructions: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5
Many thanks,

I sent it to you.

The log file generally shows this error for the images that can't be seen. "INFO: FredaBook.MeasureChapter: could not find the image file for image "

Thank you for sending the log file.  I can see from the log file that the SVG image file is not being converted properly.  This code works fine on my various test devices, but for some reason it is failing on yours.

Would you be willing to install a debug version of Freda, to let me look at this issue in more depth?  If so, I will provide you the files you need for that.  But please be aware that to do this, you would need to temporarily switch off some security settings on your PC.  Also, you'd need to trust that I'm not including any malware in the package files ... so I would completely understand if you were not willing to do that.

Anyhow, please let me know (and let me know an email address that I can use to inform you of where the debug package is, for you to download)

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim, nice to meet you. My name is Fran and I am writing to you from Spain. Excuse my horrible english. I use the free version of Freda, the best program to read epubs, on a Windows 10 computer. Yesterday the program was updated and, since then, I have not seen the covers and interior illustrations in many books. I disable advanced rendering but the problem doesn't go away. Hugs

Sorry to hear about this problem.  Please try downloading the book again (right-click on the book item in the library list and choose 'download'), and see if the images appear now.

If not, please contact me by email on jim@turnipsoft.co.uk, and send me Freda's log file (see here for instructions: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5 )
