Question Moving Files from PC to Android
Posted by: drnebula - 09-22-2024, 02:55 AM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

I've had trouble synching and importing files from my PC to my Android tablet.  The import crashes the program, I assume because I have too many books.  But I want to keep the highlights for future use.

I also like to read on a large monitor using my PC and sync with the Android tablet which I can take to book groups and access the highlighted excerpts for discussion.

I was able to work through this problem a few times by removing Freda completely from my Android tablet and reinstalling.  But this is a bit of a pain to do every time I read a new book.

I can get to the saved files on my PC.  Can I copy them by hand onto the Android tablet?  I can't figure out where the Freda files are stored on the Android tablet.

Anyone know whether this is feasable and how to acomplish it?

Thanks in advance.

This is such a great program - I would be glad to pay $ for it, especially if I could get the PC and Android to work together.  I have searched several times for other ebook readers but so far have not found any that are even close to Freda.

Steve

  Change Log v5.03
Posted by: jim_chapman - 08-05-2024, 09:32 AM - Forum: Discussion - No Replies

Freda update 5.3 is now being deployed. This release includes various bug fixes, and a transition to more up-to-date versions of various code components (which may mean improved stability, or may not). The major changes are:

  • (Windows) Added menu bar to main screen
  • Switched to using Gutenberg for initial book list (because Feedbooks has been shut down)
  • (Android) Improved full-screen mode
  • Fixed issues with background images

  book organization
Posted by: msamp - 07-21-2024, 04:44 AM - Forum: Support - Replies (2)

I have my books all nicely arranged in my file system, with folders for fiction, non-fiction, subfolders for authors and subjects, etc. Is there any way to use Freda and take advantage of my already existing organization, and not waste disk space by making a duplicate copy in a different location? This seems SO OBVIOUS to me but i can't find a decent epub reader that does this. Ebookdroid is great, but is not supported on Windows. Cover for windows also behaves sensibly, but does not have full epub support. Can Freda do this somehow?

thanks!
mike

Could someone guide me with the category thing?
Posted by: lizaclarr - 06-24-2024, 07:05 AM - Forum: Support - Replies (2)

Hello there,

This is my first post after just joining this discussion, so please forgive me and provide kind assistance if I have posted to the wrong subsection!

I am new here but a real enthusiast and loving this community so far. I have a background in teaching coding and in education and feel I could help with documentation, at least for starters.

As a new member in this forum and wish to share and gain some knowledge. I am looking forward to creating my own discussion to resolve my query and gain some knowledge though I have taken part in various discussions which have definitely helped me a lot.

Also in what category should be taken depends on what factors?

Thank you in advance.

Question Changing path for onedrive sync?
Posted by: sonofabit - 05-31-2024, 05:20 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

Hi, I searched the forum for a similar question but didn't find anything. Is there any way to customize the path to which sync and archives are saved in OneDrive? I'd rather put it in something like Apps/Freda instead of at the root where it is now.

I didn't find any such option, so if it doesn't exist, I'd like to kindly request you consider it for a future version. I do use the windows app too so I suppose it needs to be in all of em so I understand if this is a bigger undertaking, but it would be appreciated!

many thanks

  Making the content menu stick
Posted by: Marvin42 - 05-11-2024, 01:26 AM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

When reading reference books and such I like to have the content menu on the side to easily jump to the place I'm interested in. I'm using the windows store version (5.2) on Windows 11.

I looked at the video guide and it seems that when a book is open and you select the menu to show Contents, clicking on the hamburger menu top left will pop up an option to stick the menu. But whe I click on the menu nothing happens. The button registers I'm clicking on it but no menu pops up. I can click and hold and drag the content menu around, but as soon as I click on the book text the menu goes away. How do i make it stick?

  Missing a few pages
Posted by: ramiroflores - 04-23-2024, 01:57 AM - Forum: Support - Replies (1)

Hi everybody,

I read a book that Freda showed was missing a few pages. Is that because of Freda or because the book is confidential?

Thank you!

Freda not loading on Windows 11, help!
Posted by: SunShineLucy - 04-02-2024, 03:26 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (4)

It was working flawlessly a few weeks ago, but now it won't start or run. I have tried several times and restarted my Windows 11 x64 PC already. I also removed and reinstalled it to no avail. I don't know how to post a bug/crash report. It won't even start. Please, help me out so I won't have to look for another epub reader since this has been my favorite for years now.

  Error message

I used Freda OK before but the last few books came up with:

"Error when trying to start reading aloud"

and it does not work. Reinstaling it made no difference.
