It's not doing this. I "find" searched the last name of a character in the book from a point in the middle of the book. I knew the result list couldn't have included the first reference in the book to this character, because it didn't provide the usual descriptive material when a character is first introduced in a book. I verified this behavior by "find" searching from the beginning of the book, and in this case the result list did include the first reference to the character in the book.

And does the label "[incomplete: too many results]" appear below the search results window?  If so, the problem is simply that you're searching for a term that appears too frequently in the book - which means that the program is behaving as expected, and not displaying all of a huge list of results.  If that label doesn't appear, then it sounds like you've found a bug in the program, and I'd like to analyse that further - so could you email me at jim@turnipsoft.co.uk, sending me a copy of the book file, and giving some more detail on exactly what you searched for.  Thanks.
