HOW TO: Synchronise reading position between several devices running Freda

I'm having issues with synchronization too. I have Freda 4.28 rev2 on Android 6.0.1 When I try to merge, the app just freezes. Can it be a size related issue?

Thanks.

'Just freezes' sounds bad.  Normally I'd expect Freda to at least show some error messages (on the 'merge' page, above the buttons).  Please could you send a copy of Freda's log file to me at jim@turnipsoft.co.uk - the procedure is here: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5

Hi, I try to synchronize with OneDrive, however when in Onedrive in the "Hamburger" top left there is no more "settings" when in Onedrive. The only way seems now when reading a book the top righthand menu (three dots) - settings and there one can only synchronize with the "FBReader booknetwork" it seems. This has changed? I would prefer even being able to synchronize with a folder on My Synology NAS by way of DS File. On the other hand I would be content if I new how to copy the bookmarks by hand now and then. How to do that?

It could be a size-related issue, especially if you're using a slow/unreliable network connection.  So for best results, use a WiFi connection. The other thing to check is the version of the application - please go into Google Play, and apply an update to the app, if it offers you one.

If you're still seeing problems, please email me your log file (instructions here: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5 ) and I will see if I can work out what the issue is.

Thanks

Hello,
I'm having the same problem with the guy from 5 years ago Smile
I'm trying to synchronize my ebooks from pc to android, I successfully connected my windows Freda to one drive but the android Freda doesn't want to connect Smile
I have a button on the top with key symbol which does nothing and a text at center says tap here and does nothing.

Related lines from log file, last 2 lines are repeated many times, I'm guessing thats because a spammed the key button:
2023-07-15 01:59:27.976: ERROR: OneDriveConnector.InitialiseActivity: The device's installed web browser does not support a tabbed view, so OneDrive authentication is likely to fail.
2023-07-18 20:06:52.352: INFO: OneDriveConnector.GetTokenForUser: Unable to acquire token, because a UI is required but not available.
2023-07-18 20:06:52.352: INFO: OneDriveConnector.SignInAsync: Unable to obtain token for user; OneDrive has not been connected

My device is samsung s22 ultra, I have firefox installed if it changes anything. I tried using both samsung internet and firefox as default browser.

Edit: If anyone has same problem, I installed Chrome and made it the default browser and login page appeared immediately entering the app.

Thank you for adding that point - indeed that's correct: if you're having trouble with getting the Freda Android app to log on to OneDrive, it may be fixed by switching your default browser to Chrome.  This is the result of some obnoxious security rule that Google has built in to the Android operating system, and so far I didn't find any way to work around it.

Once you've completed the OneDrive sign-in using Chrome, and got Freda connected to OneDrive, you can then revert to using whichever browser you prefer - it just needs to use Chrome for the first sign-in (and the bit where it displays the prompt asking you to give permission for Freda to access your OneDrive)

No problem  Big Grin
I've been using Freda on windows for a few years and love it. I was using fullreader on android but it failed to open some of the epubs I downloaded from j-novel, so I found out that Freda has an android app too after 2 years..
And now I can sync. my books Heart  So thank you.

Hi,

With the update to 5.0.3, I get the message on my professional PC under license that 'Premium features have not been purchased on this device.' The buy button does not work. On my private PC I get the message under license that the premium features have been granted on this device. What to do for my professional PC so I can autom. sync?

Thanks,

Jan

Sorry about the problem with the 'buy' button. Can you tell me exactly what happens when you press that button. And please also send me a log file, after tapping that button. The procedure is here: http://www.turnipsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5

When I open Freda on my prof. PC I see:

When I click the button, I see:

when I click the 'buy' button, nothing happens.
I can go manually to the Microsoft Store to get Freda+, but is this still working?
I've mailed a log file to support@turnipsoft.co.uk

Thanks,

Jan

Hi Jan - An update is on the way that should fix this problem.  It's going through Microsoft review at the moment and should be available in the Store within the next day or so.
